Living by the Numbers in 201052 is a peculiarly significant number because it's the calendar week in which we stand looking back at 2009 and forward into 2010, our hands reaching in opposite directions as if to connect the positives of the past and the possibilities of the future. Numbers evoke and project powerful images. Think "1776" or "9-11". On 1/1/2010 many will resolve to change some numbers, whether it be to make lifestyle choices to bring their 140/90 into the better 120/80 range or to avoid a previous expense by keeping it at 55 on the road next year. We live by numbers. Too often the "tyranny of the urgent" is in our driver's seat. The “up at 6”, “out at 8”, “5 miles down 95 to spend 9 with only 30 minutes lunch break” can easily overshadow all the other numbers in our lives.
So I invite you: Resolve to spend 5 minutes a day pondering God's chosen numbers for your life in 2010.
316 Let's start with 316…John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."
316 is a wonderful number. It will take us eternity to understand that number alone, but let's pause and ponder just the beginning of it: "For God so loved the world". That's YOU He's talking about. He's absolutely crazy in love with you at this very moment in time. That's also me and everybody else in the world: those you love and those who drive you crazy. God loves. He is perfect, unconditional, eternal Love. At His deepest core God loves you.
5 Take 5 today to receive, soak in and store up His love. Make that #1 on your "to do" list 24/7/365. 2010 is going to be a great number!
